I came across Still Life Boutique when searching for ethical & sustainable underwear - they are one of the few companies in Canada that carries Pansy Underwear. I fell in love with the variety of ethically produced clothing & small brands that they carry, so when we went to Victoria this spring they were on our list of places to check out. We got to chat with one of their long time employees, Jordan, about what Still Life stands for, what sets them about, and what their plans for the future are.

Still Life Boutique is an independent shop that opened it's doors in 1984 in Victoria, BC. Since then, the shop has been taken over by a local couple, Matt & Kim, who have turned it into a modern fashion boutique. They have grown the single shop into two in Victoria, expanded into Vancouver, and developed a serious online presence. Still Life boutique aims to be high end yet approachable, with custom built stores & products that are "a testament to hard work and quality goods".

The quality of products & high level of customer service are what sets Still Life Boutique apart. They research the companies they purchase from, focusing on ethically produced clothing with a Scandinavian aesthetic. Products are all seen in person before purchasing, and they aim to carry a highly edited selection of clothing at all price levels for different customers. With a focus on customer service, they strive to be the nicest and most approachable, both in store and online. They take pride in their stores, which are custom built by Matt to give a high-end feel with a unique personality in each location.

Still Life Boutique is "still in name only"*. In the last four years, they have grown from a single store to three, with two in Victoria & one on Main Street in Vancouver. Developing their online presence is a big priority for the future, and they hope to one day have their own line. They are currently having a summer sale (50-70% off), and are starting to receive pieces for fall. Still Life also has a blog, and occasionally hosts events & contests. Keep an eye out to see how they grow - I'm looking forward to following along as they do!
