The Process of Crafting a Collection
The Solara Blouse + Lace Moonbeam Skirt, sewn from upcycled textiles.
It all starts with the textiles. Soft cottons, linens, & lace that drape & float against the body. Knits that weave together style & warmth.
The Garden Dress, sewn from cotton, botanically dyed with flowers from my garden & iron mordant.
Then the colours—does it want to stay cream for the time being? Is there a plant my heart is yearning to play with? What combinations am I curious about? Do I have an intuitive feeling about what colour the garment wants to be?
The Garden Blouse, hand sewn & botanically dyed with onion skins + logwood.
For the pieces I sew, the shapes flow, designed to move with the body, comforting rather than constricting. Inspired by the beauty & quality of vintage heirlooms, I create pieces I imagine my daughter wearing to a dinner party in her 30s, saying “thanks, it was my Mom’s” when someone compliments her.
Reworked Amber Sweater Dress, botanically dyed with goldenrod + onion skins. Oversized Blanket Shawl botanically dyed with flowers from my garden.
These garments are made to be loved & cherished, lived in & cared for.
A talisman to enjoy the present while holding hope for the future.
